Istanbul University (İstanbul Üniversitesi) is the oldest university in Turkey and the region, founded in 1453 immediately after the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, making it one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the Islamic world.

Location and Campus
Istanbul University is located in the Beyazıt district in the heart of European Istanbul, with its main campus stretching alongside the historic Grand Bazaar amidst timeless Ottoman landmarks.
